HTC One, One Mini Android 4.4 KitKat Update in Canada Coming Soon – Begin Certification Testing

The HTC One and HTC One Mini users in Canada will now get to taste the KitKat flavor in their devices very soon, as the KitKat version of OS is sent for the certification and all the six network providers in Canada have begun testing the OS update – Bell, Rogers TELUS, Virgin Mobile, Wind and SaskTel. Out of these, Rogers has already started the certification of the Android 4.4 update for the HTC One Mini.
As the testing has already started, the certification too won’t take long and we will be seeing the actual rollout of the Android KitKat update to these devices very soon, and that could be in a week or two. The providers in the US were faster in sending the updates to the HTC One users, and we expect the network providers in Canada to take around the same time to send the update to the users. Once the certification is done, the roll out of the KitKat OS will be done via the Over-the-air option, and as the company had earlier said, the HTC One would be the first device from the company to receive the update, thus the HTC One Mini users might still have to wait for at least a week more, after the HTC One update is rolled out.

The Android 4.4 update for both the devices will have the latest version of HTC Sense, i.e. version 5.5 which is said to be having a lot of improvements from the previous version, and this includes bug fixes, enhancements to the Blinkfeed and the Video highlights. We will be able to confirm the actual change log and list of features updated in the new OS version when it is pushed out to the devices after the certification is done.
For now, you can check the HTC Canada page to check out the live status of the update for the HTC One through the different network providers.
