Motorola Moto G Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS Update in UK, Germany – Change Log, Details

Motorola Moto G, the recently launched Android smartphone from Motorola has been receiving the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS update, as reported by the users in UK and Germany. This update was already rolled out in the US, and now that is being followed in the European countries with almost the same changes to the previous version that were seen in the devices in the US. The first focus in sending the updates is to give a taste of Android KitKat on these devices, and there are a few Moto-G specific changes included as well..

The full change log about the Android 4.4.2 KitKat includes:
  • Android 4.4.2 KitKat is the latest release of Android platform, and it includes enhancements such as restyled status and navigation bars, a new full screen mode, improved captioning closed support, support for colored emoji, better security and power usage, and better app development via tools.
  • Gallery: The gallery app now has got the new photo editing options to Gallery app, which includes the new filter effects, and allows you to draw on your photos, advanced cropping, color adjustment, exposure and contrast adjustment.
  • Hangouts: There is SMS/MMS support, and there is an option to set the Hangouts app as the default one for the messaging as well as chatting.
  • Phone dialer: The app for phone is very much improved with the ability to look up contacts directly from the dial pad, and to see and tap the frequent contacts, as well as to search the corporate directory easily.
  • Printing documents and pictures: There is added support for printing documents and pictures, with Google Docs, Gmail messages and the other content via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and hosted services like Google Cloud Print, HP ePrinter.
  • Apart from the above, there is support added for the square credit card reader.
It is a bit of a surprise package for many, as one of those smartphones costing around $200 is getting the Android KitKat update, and the users of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and such high-end devices have to still wait for the OEM to send an official update. If you are in some other place, you will have to wait for the update to be rolled out anytime soon.
