Pebble Steel Smartwatch Launched – Stainless Steel Body with Gorilla Glass – Details and Pricing

Pebble Technology has just launched the new smartwatch as they promised not long ago, and the new beauty is called the Pebble Steel. Crafted with the Stainless steel body, this new Smart watch shows itself as more than just the always-smart looking one, as there are some new metal and leather straps, unlike the rubberish one that was seen in the first gen Pebble smartwatch, launched at CES last year.

There is a Corning Gorilla Glass protection for the watch display, and it is the same e-ink display which made the watch look cool although people always would love to flaunt the colorful displays. The LED is tri-color though and the watch comes with the matching straps – Brushed stainless steel and Black matte. Again, Pebble isn’t coming with one strap but it would be two of them – one steel and one leather in the package.

The connectivity and compatibility remains the same, though Pebble has now revealed the plans about the new App store for Pebble where the special apps for the smartwatch would be available, and there is also a new SDK available.
The issue about the scratches and finger prints is now gone, and the mysterious battery now would respond with the low power status with a RGB LED indicator on the bottom left part of the watch face, which is again a very much needed addition to the list of new features in the Pebble Steel.

There is no plastic now, as you see the sides and even the buttons made of stainless steel. There’s a magnetic connector which the company says, is better than the current one and thus the Pebble Steel is quite a good upgrade from the previous version. The Pebble Steel is priced at $249, which is just $50 less than that of the Samsung Galaxy Gear, and for that price, we would vouch easily for the Pebble Steel, as the Gear is still not really what one would want from a smartwatch. There is free worldwide shipping for the early orders, and we don’t really know whether the company is putting this to tempt the users, but they say that the Pebble Steels is in very limited supply, so don’t wait too long before you see the stocks gone.
